Poster & Oral Presentation Guidelines

Posters Specifications

Each author will share a 6' poster board with one other author, and each will have a useable area measuring 3' (91.44cm) wide x 4' (121.92 cm) high. This is a portrait/vertical format. Poster should be prepared to fit in the above suggested poster size.

Designing of effective posters requires careful thought and advance preparation. Identify the principal messages and then work out the most effective presentation, choose a headline to help highlight each point. Poster presentations should be designed to summarize current research in graphic forms: charts, tables, graphs, pictures, etc. Your poster should be self-explanatory so that you are free to supplement and discuss particular points raised in inquiry.

Poster Award
All poster presenters will be required to bring 5 minutes presentations in powerpoint presentation (.ppt) format for the award selection. (Not more than 5 slides)

Abstract/Board Number
• The abstract/board number indicates the board you are to use for displaying your poster.

Poster Mounting and Removal
• Authors must put up and take down their posters according to the schedule. Authors must be present at the assigned board based on their odd and even abstract/ board number, and must remain at their boards for the duration of their scheduled presentation times. Posters should remain on the boards for all three days.

Important Poster Presenter Information
  • When preparing your poster, please check the poster size guidelines before printing (see above).
  • You must register and wear an official ISHG 2014 scientific meeting badge to gain admittance at any time to the poster areas. Unregistered guests (i.e., friends, co-workers, etc.) are not permitted to attend the poster sessions.
  • All poster boards will be pre-numbered. Please be certain to mount your poster on the correct board.
  • Remember to bring your own pushpins. We will have a very limited number of pushpins available at the meeting.
  • Do not leave personal materials or belongings under poster boards or in the poster area. ASHG is not responsible for any articles left in the poster area or elsewhere.

Invited and Platform Presenters
  • All rooms will be having PCs
  • Please bring a backup copy of your presentation with you to Ahmedabad. Presenter should copy PowerPoint and all movies to a folder on a USB drive. PowerPoint does NOT embed movies hence they must all be placed in the same folder as your PowerPoint. It is good practice to keep a second copy as a backup.
General Information
  • Keynote Speakers presentations are various lengths (from 40-45 minutes each).
  • Invited Speaker Session presentations are various lengths (from 40 minutes presentation, 5 mins question answer).
  • Plenary presentations are 20 minutes in length: 15-minute presentation, 5-minute question and answers.
  • Platform presentations are 10 minutes in length: 8-minute presentation, 2-minute question and answers.
  • Speakers should upload their presentation slides in advance. Speakers must not take laptops or thumb drives to the podium for use with their presentation. They can the Speaker Presentation/Upload Room to download their presentation, which may help to start the session well in time. You can still make changes by visiting the Speaker Presentation/Upload Room up to one session before your talk.
  • There will a WiFi system available at the conference venue. If you require an internet connection for your presentation, please contact the ISHG Management Office at secretariat@ishg2014.org latest by December 1, 2014.
  • If you are unable to present and need to send a replacement author, please inform the ISHG Management Office (secretariat@ishg2014.org) immediately.
  • All speakers are requested to be within the time slot and respect the other colleagues to present their data by providing sufficient time.
